About Our Firm
The Geller Firm was opened to focus on Estate Planning, Family Law, and License Defense. These areas of law were specifically chosen by Attorney Michael Geller because of his personal and professional experiences. Michael’s grandfather, after whom he was named, was a high net worth individual who did not have an estate plan for his family. He passed away at a young age after a pedestrian accident leaving behind his wife and five small children. Since Michael’s grandfather did not have an estate plan, his family faced severe financial consequences. His family did not know where he kept the family assets, and as a result, they were never able to get access to these assets. There was also no life insurance policy, which caused his family to struggle financially to survive. Michael’s entire family would have had a completely different life if his grandfather prepared an estate plan. Michael wants to help families avoid this costly mistake of not having an estate plan.
During law school, Michael concentrated his studies on family law. He developed a very strong interest in California’s community property laws and he is devoted to helping individuals who are going through a difficult time. He is committed to his clients’ success within the family court system.
Michael is also passionate about defending professionals from discipline by the licensing boards. In his early years of medical practice, a patient filed a complaint against him to the Medical Board of California. Michael believes that receiving this letter in the mail was the worst moment of his medical career. After reviewing the complaint and the medical records, Michael did not believe the complaint had any merit. He researched the law and the medical standard of care to dispute the allegations. The Medical Board of California agreed with Michael’s response and dismissed the complaint because they did not find any violations of the Medical Practice Act. After this experience, Michael knew that he wanted to defend other professionals who are at risk of losing their license and livelihood.
